Xiya Cao is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University. She’s currently working
on the smart shoes project, focusing on deep learning techniques for stride length prediction. She received her Bachelor Degree in Aerospace Engineering at Peking University, where she did research in Brain Computer Interface to detect movement intention from neural signals. Before joining the group, she also did research in deep learning applications, such as predicting air quality index in small scale, predicting depth with monocular video using task-oriented flow.
Xiya’s research interests include deep learning and bayesian models for machine learning. She is also
interested in computer vision. She hopes artificial intelligence can make the rehabilitation robotics better.
