ROAR Lab attended the 2nd Annual Rehabilitation Research Day at the Weill Cornell Medical Center on September 8th, 2017. This event is dedicated to presenting extensive research findings in the field of rehabilitation medicine from a consortium of medical research institutions in New York City. This year, the featured Keynote speaker was Dr. Todd Kuiken, director of Center for Bionic Medicine in Chicago. Haohan Zhang was invited to be a featured speaker and present his paper, “Dynamic Neck Braces for Characterizing, Assisting, and Training Head Movement.”

Following Haohan’s presentation, two of our lab members were invited to partake in the Poster Grand Rounds. Our principal investigator, Dr. Sunil K Agrawal, presented the paper, “Single Session Perturbation Based Balance Training Improves Gait Stability and Cognitive Performance in Healthy Older Adults.”  While, Jiyeon Kang discussed her findings in her paper, “Robot-driven Downward Pelvic Pull to Improve Crouch Gait in Children with Cerebral Palsy.” Both presenters shared great insights in their research topics with the audience.

After the Poster Grand Rounds, our lab presented our posters during the poster-viewing session. The posters presented at the session included “The Integration of Motor Learning Principles to Reduce Asymmetry Using a Novel Robotic Device in Individuals after Stroke” and “Effects of Virtual Reality Training with Trunk Support Trainer on Postural Kinematics.”

Meanwhile, a cocktail hour was held and several of our lab members were able to discuss in further details and converse with other attendees of the event. Congratulations to Dr. Sunil K Agrawal, Haohan Zhang, and Jiyeon Kang for being featured at this event!
