Here are short summaries of what some of our alumni are doing today.

Dr. Ji-Chul Ryu

Dr. Ji-Chul Ryu completed his PhD in 2009. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Northern Illinois University (NIU) as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2013. He is enjoying getting involved with passionate students.  He conducts research at NIU in the area of robotic dynamic manipulation and machine & factory inspection systems using mobile robots and mobile manipulators. Dr. Vivek Sangwan

Dr. Vivek Sangwan completed his PhD from in 2010. He spent over five years at a corporate research center of Schlumberger Technology Corporation developing automation and control technologies for the Oil & Gas industry. After this stint in industrial research, he took up a faculty position in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay where he and his students are looking at improving control techniques for manipulators, quadcopters and walking robots. Dr. Chengkun Zhang

Dr. Chengkun Zhang completed the PhD degree in 2012. He is a lead mechatronics engineer currently supporting GE Life Science business. His work focuses on high risk concept evaluation and innovative solution to customers' pain points in biopharmaceutical and cell immunotherapy industries. He plans to automate key bio-processes and his goal is to help make people's life better in the years to come. ([email protected])

 


 

Dr. Shazlin Shaharudin

Dr. Shazlin Shaharudin completed her PhD degree in 2014. She is currently working as a lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia, a research university in her home country, Malaysia. Her research focuses on sports biomechanics in weightlifting, rowing and running, and injury prevention in junior and female athletes. Being in Health Campus of the university, she also collaborates in clinical biomechanics research on scoliosis and brain injury. She has fond memories of ROAR lab ex-members and the US. Dr. Paul Stegall

Dr. Paul Stegall, after PhD graduation in 2016, started as a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. Here, he taught Mechatronics, Introduction to Mechanical Design, and sophmore and junior level lab courses. He is continuing at this position for the following year. ([email protected])
